Discover who you are, not who they say you should be.

Daily, an average teenager is asked, “why can’t you be like him or her?” or “why are you here when your mates are making progress?” However, people who ask these questions fail to remember that there can be no progress so long they keep asking the wrong questions. Instead of asking why can’t you be like your mates, the question should be how you can be better. Life isn’t a race against anyone but yourself; stop looking at where your mates are and start doing something to change where you are.

Your friend invented a machine, won a considerable amount of money, and is popular now doesn’t mean you should start developing one. People ask you why can’t you invent something like them; forgive them for their ignorance, but don’t join the league of fools. Discover your talent instead of trying to succeed at another person’s talent. You might be a writer or an orator; just because you haven’t succeeded yet does not mean you won’t. Be an original of yourself and not a second version of another because your only limitation is your imagination. Therefore instead of being who they say you should be, be who you can be and more. Be great but be yourself.
